Welcome!
Queen of the Night
Please note: this site is currently under major reconstruction so as to allow the placement and more efficient viewing of a large number of additional photos from the Australian Outback. It would appear I've been considerably more enthusiastic about producing photos than about keeping this site up to scratch.... Oh well, time to put it right..
Some features will be unavailable for a short time and new ones will continue to be introduced as work progresses.
My sincere thanks for your patience and understanding.
Some day I hope to sell enough photos to employ a professional web site writer, then I can spend my time doing things I do know something about...
Tony
A little about the photos on this site
The majority are offered on genuine Fuji photographic paper.
These are not prints from an inkjet printer but, rather, are produced on long life Fuji photographic paper by the traditional wet process of classic silver halide photo development. They are photographs of the highest possible quality and make a truly outstanding addition to any collection! They can be as small as you wish or as large as 1270mm (50") high by as long as required.
There are a small number of exceptions to this rule. One example of that is the "Queen of the Night" cactus flower (see above) which is offered on canvas for setting on a frameless mount.
Another is that prints from a seven colour pigment ink printer (very long life) on high quality Ilford professional photo print paper of around 10 x 32 cm actual photo size (about 4" x 12.5") will be available for those who'd like to own one of these photos but don't wish to go to the extent of the more complex processes, or perhaps who'd like to see a sample before ordering a larger photo.
In the latter case the full cost of the "sample" (not including postage) will be deducted from the purchase price of the larger photo upon completion of the sale.
Not all the photos on this site are mine as my son, Steve, sometimes joins me on my little adventures into our beautiful Outback. I'm still not certain if it's because of his love of photography or the perceived need to take care of his decrepit ol' man!
(I suppose someone has to drive ;-)
Either way he does a great job and some of his photos are just too good to pass by so they're included here, each of them with a credit to him.
There'll always be partially finished pages here with only one or two photos on them or, quite likely, nothing but a heading at the time. Since I'm always out there doing what I like best, photographing Australia, there's always a slow but steady stream of new material waiting to be posted. This site is a work in progress and will be so for the rest of my life.
Lastly, but by no means least, please be aware of the difficulties involved in attempting to faithfully reproduce the finer qualities of a photograph on computer monitors, it's just about impossible! Professional monitors are calibrated regularly (mine are done weekly) but even they lack something of the real thing. Domestic monitors all have varied settings, especially so as they age, and it's unlikely any two will show precisely the same rendition of colours, contrast or hues.
One thing that can be said with certainty is that a finished photograph will present infinitely better than anything that could possibly be reproduced on a computer monitor. So, when you order one of our photos, expect to be pleasantly surprised!
